6 locals honored at SkillsUSA conference

Local students recently were recognized at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo. Industry leaders representing more than 1,100 businesses, trade associations and unions honored students in skills such as robotics, criminal justice and aviation.

The following South Sound students received Skill Point Certificates for a high score defined by the industry: Austin Fune, Auburn Riverside High School, cabinetmaking; Darius Harris, Thomas Jefferson High School, first aid and CPR; team of Amanda Stebner, Heather Dodge and Chelsea Goodwin, Peninsula High School, crime scene investigation; and Lynette Temchuck, Green River Community College, customer service.
