Charges pending in Federal Way woman’s stabbing

STACIA GLENN

A King County District Court judge on Monday ordered a Federal Way man to remain in jail without bail as prosecutors decide whether to charge him with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend.

Prosecutors have until Wednesday to file charges against Kenneth Mace, 29.

According to court records:

Mace stabbed his girlfriend, 20-year-old Mindy O’Meara, during a dispute Friday at his home in the Camelot Lot Mobile Home Park, 3001 S. 288th St. Distraught and on the verge of tears, he went to a neighbor’s home and asked to use the phone to call 911.

The neighbor overheard Mace tell dispatchers, “I stabbed her.”

The neighbor then flagged down a passing security guard, who placed handcuffs on Mace.

Police found O’Meara’s body on the kitchen floor. She had multiple stab wounds on her neck.

During interviews at the police station, Mace told officers the knife he used was on the floor next to the one she attacked him with. He said O’Meara was speaking in “demon talk” when he got home and came at him with a knife.

He said he grabbed the knife from her and blacked out. He did not remember what happened after that.
