The search for a Buckley man who went missing while inner tubing on the Puyallup River was called off Monday evening.

“We will not be resuming it,” Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. “We’ve exhausted everything we can possibly do.”

He said search and rescue crews will re-evaluate the situation once the water level falls.

The sheriff’s swift water rescue team searched for the 29-year-old man, whose name was not released, with the help of aircraft Sunday and Monday.

The man floated away in the 12800 block of McMillan Road just north of Orting. His friends called 911 after they couldn’t reach him. The inner tuber is presumed dead, Troyer said.

Another inner tuber who also disappeared was found and treated for injuries Sunday.
