Gig Harbor thrift store will rebuild, accept donations

The public can donate funds to the Peninsula Orthopedic Guild No. 1 at any area Kitsap Bank to help rebuild the Peninsula Orthopedic Thrift Shop that was destroyed by fire on July 3.

Officials have indicated the City of Gig Harbor will assist in rebuilding the shop. Proceeds from the thrift shop benefit Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. Since the store opened in the 1950s, some $1.5 million has been donated to the hospital.

Thrift shop officials will let people know when the store can start to receive merchandise donations again, and they expressed thanks for the the community support during this difficult time.
