Time to dine on food and wine in Gig Harbor
Gig Harbor: Third year of festival features celebrity chef Holly Smith

This Gig Harbor Food and Wine Festival is this Saturday, here’s the details:

What: The Gig Harbor Wine and Food Festival.

When: Saturday.

Cost: $75.

Where: Harbor History Museum, 4121 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor.

Parking: Parking at the medical center at 6401 Kimball Drive, as well as the downtown Columbia Bank on Judson Street. Free shuttle service to and from the sites.

Eat and drink: 30 wineries, and 20 restaurants and food purveyors.

Classes: Gail Werner-Forecki will discuss sparkling Northwest wines; Gary Winn of Silver City Breweries will talk about beer making; Chef Maggie Inge of Bella Kitchen Essentials, will speak on pairing wine, beer and sake with sushi; Chef Becky Selengut of Cornucopia Cuisine will talk about sustainable seafood and share recipes; Kris Blondin of Stink Cheese & Meat will talk on pairing salumi and wine. Demonstrations: Ongoing throughout the day – Xinh Dwelley of Xinh’s Clam and Oyster House will lead a demonstration, as well as other chefs.

Top toques: Chef Holly Smith of Kirkland’s Cafe Juanita, and a past contender on Food Network’s "Iron Chef," will be the celebrity chef contestant in a cook-off with Chef Tin Nguyen, executive chef of the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort.
