Couple shot in Ballard apartment early Saturday

A man and a woman who were shot in a Ballard apartment early this morning have been transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Seattle police said they were called to an apartment in the 1100 block of Northwest 54th Street about 1:30 a.m.
The female victim’s daughter told police that her mother’s former boyfriend had come to the apartment, opened fire on both victims, and fled. The daughter gave police a description of the suspect and information about his vehicle.
A Seattle police officer spotted the suspect at N.E. 50th Street near Interstate 5 and followed him until additional police arrived. They pulled him over near Interstate 5 at Michigan Street and arrested him.
