Diane Palmquist of Tacoma Baptist High School and Meagan Turner of South Kitsap High School are among teachers from Washington state who soon will be working beside scientists in research laboratories at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and several other partner sites throughout Seattle as part of the Hutchinson Center’s Science Education Partnership.
The teachers will spend time working one-on-one with a scientist mentor in a research laboratory on projects tailored to their interests and time in the Teaching Laboratory at the Hutchinson Center, where they will work as a group with master teachers experienced with the partnership focusing on effective ways to use scientific concepts and techniques in the classroom and refining curricula for the coming school year.
