The Seattle Mariners reached into their minor league system for a young starting pitcher today, and came up with 23-year-old Blake Beavan, who will face the Kansas City Royals.
The right-hander was 4-0 with 2.61 earned run average in AAA Tacoma, pitching seven shutout innings in his last Pacific Coast League start. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, right-handed reliever Steve Delabar was optioned to the Rainiers.
