Tacoma police arrested a cashier at a Tacoma Kmart store Wednesday on suspicion she was taking $20 bills and replacing them with counterfeit cash.

Loss prevention officers at the store, 1414 E. 72nd St., confronted the woman and reported the alleged forgery to police. Officers said she confessed to the crimes, which occurred for the last 18 months.

She was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of 11 counts of forgery. It’s unknown how much money was stolen.

Police said they notified the Secret Service for follow-up on the case.
