Suspected robber arrested outside Parkland bank

A suspected bank robber was arrested Monday as he tried to leave a KeyBank branch that had just been held up, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The robbery was reported about 1:15 p.m.

The suspect implied that he had a gun but was not actually armed, Troyer said.

Deputies responded to the bank at the corner of Pacific Avenue and 131st Street South within seconds of receiving the call and “got him into custody as he came out,” Troyer said.

The suspect went peacefully with deputies and was booked into the Pierce County Jail, Troyer added.
