Applause: Stranger stops to help after dog is killed

On June 5, about 4 p.m., I was playing with my dog, Bebe, in a park off Point Fosdick in Gig Harbor. Bebe took off running and was hit by a car as she bolted across the road. Bebe died instantly, but the vehicle that hit her did not stop. I was frozen with shock and grief.

A kind woman named Denise stopped and helped me gather my things from the park, wrap Bebe in my jacket and drove us home. Denise helped me carry Bebe inside and even offered to call family for me. Denise was a complete stranger and I want her to know how much her help truly meant to me. If she hadn’t stopped I would’ve been completely lost.

Thank you, Denise, for taking the time to stop and help a complete stranger in an awful situation. I hope someday I will have an opportunity to properly thank you in person.
