A 32-year-old man was shot in the back late Tuesday while walking in Tacoma, police said Wednesday.

A woman drove the man to Tacoma General Hospital, where he was treated for a nonlife-threatening injury.

The man refused to provide his name, the identity of the woman who brought him to the hospital or the exact location where the shooting occurred, police said. Officers later determined his name and that he had a warrant for a narcotics violation from Mississippi.

Officers checked the area and determined the shooting likely happened in the 3500 block of South Orchard Street.
