Missing state diver is 24-year-old from Puyallup

A state diver presumed dead after disappearing Tuesday in the waters south of Bainbridge Island was a 24-year-old Puyallup man.
David D. Scheinost was a geoduck compliance diver with the Department of Natural Resources. He was hired in February.
He and two other divers were sampling geoduck clams for paralytic shellfish poisoning southwest of Restoration Point when he sank out of sight. Search teams continued Wednesday to look for his body.
Scheinost graduated from the Divers Institute of Technology in Seattle in 2010.
“David’s family and friends, as well as his fellow divers, are in our thoughts and prayers as we come to terms with the loss of such a young and vibrant life,” DNR Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark said.
