Left: Two-week-old, 4-inch hairless baby squirrels that fell from a Douglas fir tree in Tumwater snuggle on a towel Wednesday.

Above: Working in the dark, Gina Jacobsen, a volunteer with For Heaven’s Sake Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation, returns the babies to their nest with the help of Sekeli Manu of Manu & Sons General Contractors in Lacey and his high-lift truck. Photographer Tony Overman first thought the babies might be raccoons. Experts told him they needed to get back with their parents, and he saw their rescue through.
