According to the Washington state Department of Transportation, roadwork is in progress on southbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma near the state Route-16 interchange at milepost 132.
As a result, southbound I-5 has been reduced to a single lane of travel until approximately 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
Motorists can expect to encounter traffic backups and possible delays, and may wish to consider using an alternate route.

An 18-year-old from Orting was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a one-car crash early Sunday on state Route 162.
Crews will close a section of eastbound state Route 16 in Tacoma late tonight to continue work on the Nalley Valley project, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The National Park Service reported this morning that Cayuse Pass will open Friday at noon.
