Tacoma police searching for DUI suspect who crashed, leaving woman behind

Tacoma police were searching Friday for a suspected drunken driver who crashed his motorcycle Thursday night and fled, leaving behind his critically injured passenger.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m. in the 1900 block of Marine View Drive Northeast. The driver wiped out on his bike and his 22-year-old female passenger was thrown into the bushes, police said.

“The guy got back on the motorcycle and took off,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The woman was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said alcohol and speed contributed to the crash.

Officers asked hospitals to be on the lookout for men who arrive with injuries that could have been suffered in a motorcycle crash. They also have the name of a possible suspect and are looking for him.
