Marco Di Vaio got his first MLS goal early in the second half and Davy Arnaud scored two minutes later as homestanding Montreal upset New York, 3-1.
Sanna Nyassi also scored for the Impact (8-13-3), which had lost its first two meetings with the Red Bulls.
Thierry Henry scored his 11th of the season in the 57th minute for New York (11-6-5).
Di Vaio got the Impact on the scoreboard in the 48th minute, scoring in his eighth MLS match, and Arnaud made it 2-0 in the 50th.
Nyassi sealed the win with his fourth goal in the 75th minute.
Chivas USA 1, at Timbers 0: Danny Califf’s first goal of the season was all Chivas needed to send Portland (5-13-4) to its fifth straight defeat.
Califf, an early-season acquisition from the Philadelphia Union, broke a scoreless deadlock – which saw Chivas (8-8-5) on its back foot much of the night – with a set-piece header in the 68th minute.
Galaxy 1, at FC Dallas 0: Mike Magee scored in the 62nd minute to lift short-handed Los Angeles.
The defending MLS champion Galaxy (10-10-3), playing without stars Landon Donovan and David Beckham, extended its unbeaten streak to 4-0-1. Los Angeles has lost just twice in its last 10 matches (7-2-1).
Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Saunders needed to make just one save for his fourth shutout of the year.
Dallas (5-11-7) has split its last four games (2-2-0) since a franchise-record 13-game winless skid (0-7-6) dropped it to last place in the Western Conference.
Donovan sat out after he was suspended for the first time in his MLS career for yellow-card accumulation, while Beckham had not rejoined the team after participating in the Opening Ceremonies at the London Olympics on Friday night.
Dynamo 2, at Toronto FC 0: Calen Carr and Brian Ching both scored as Houston beat Toronto for its fourth straight victory.
The Dynamo (10-5-7) moved to second place in the Eastern Conference and extended its unbeaten streak to 5-0-2, having allowed just one goal in the last seven matches.
Toronto (5-12-4) snapped a three-game winning streak.
Crew 2, Sporting KC 1: Jairo Arietta scored two goals in his MLS debut, leading Columbus past Sporting KC.
Arietta, who joined the Crew (8-7-4) at midseason from Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa, scored in the 17th and 34th minutes. Columbus finished the match a man down after Cole Grossman was issued a straight red card in second-half stoppage time for a hard foul on Graham Zusi.
Sporting (11-7-4) saw its home winless streak extended to four matches.
Kei Kamara scored on a header off Graham Zusi’s free kick in the 8th minute, ending Kansas City’s scoring drought at home at 333 minutes.
At Earthquakes 1, Fire 1: Steven Lenhart returned from a four-game injury absence to score in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time and lift San Jose into a draw with Chicago.
The goal neutralized a 37th-minute strike from Chicago midfielder Chris Rolfe.
