Setting the 2012-13 waterfowl seasons, Puget Sound shrimp fishing and budget matters heads the agenda when the state Fish and Wildlife Commission meets Friday and Saturday.

The general duck season would be open for 107 days – from Oct. 13-17 and from Oct. 20-Jan. 27. A special youth hunt would be scheduled for Sept. 22-23. As in previous years, goose hunting seasons will vary by management area, but most would open in mid-October and run through late January. The commisssion is expected to vote on the proposals Friday afternoon.

Also Friday afternoon, Rich Childers, shellfish policy manager for the Fish Program, will continue briefing and seek guidance from the commission on the process to review and update the Puget Sound shrimp fishery policy.

Financial discussions Friday morning will revolve around the agency’s 2013-2015 budget and capital budget proposals.

The meetings, beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day, will be held at the Natural Resources Building, Room 172, 1111 Washington St. S.E., Olympia.

The complete agenda can be found at wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings/2012/08/agenda_aug0412.pdf.
