Ask Fish & Wildlife: Are there rewards for reporting a poacher?

Ask the Department of Fish & Wildlife:

Are there rewards for reporting a poacher?

Information that contributes substantially to an arrest of another person for violation of various state fish and wildlife laws, including the loss of fish, wildlife or damage to state Department of Fish and Wildlife property, could be eligible for a cash reward.

Hunting bonus points (up to 10) may be awarded for violation information about illegal hunting or killing of big game or an endangered species. Bonus points provide a greatly improved chance of drawing special permits for hunting. Bonus points can be applied to only one special hunt category each time a reward is approved.

If more than one individual is involved in providing the poaching information, the associated reward is normally prorated among them.
