Blues come to Mount St. Helens in concert series

The Music on the Mountain series will continue Saturday at Mount St. Helens. The event will be held at the new amphitheater at Johnston Ridge Observatory.

While Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument might be best known for the views of the famed volcano, hiking amid the recovering landscape and varied education programs, music is a way to attract new visitors, said monument officials.

The series features local and regional bands. On Saturday, the Robie Laws Band will perform, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Laws is a well known blues guitarist.

The concert is free to monument visitors and food will be available for purchase.

The final concert will be Sept. 1. About 260 people attended the inaugural concert in July.
