ON THE ROAD Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival

What: The 49th annual event is one of the state’s oldest, continuously run festivals. It is known for its focus on quality arts and crafts, handmade by artisans from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 11 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 12

Where: Coupeville historic Waterfront, Whidbey Island. Most booths will be set up on Front, Coveland and Alexander streets.

Featured artists: Among the notable artists planning to attend are Carol Bauer of StillFire Pottery, Randy and Lisa Lloyd of R&L Pottery, Ciara Concannon of Krinkly Batiks, Lee Greenlee of Shoalwater Bay Textiles, T.C. Robertson of Due Vetro Glass Studio, Leslie Whaley of Moonswept Studio, Gerry and Norma Roberts of Rain Shadow Studios and Lee Hendrickson of Side Street Photographics.

Juried art show: The Coupeville Festival Association emphasizes fine arts in the Juried Art Gallery. The gallery is organized and run by the Pacific Northwest Art School. Awards for the juried show will be presented at a wine reception 7-10 p.m. Aug. 10 in the art gallery at the Coupeville Recreation Hall. Tickets for the reception are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Free shuttle: A free shuttle will run from the Keystone Ferry landing to the festival.
