A 40-year-old Eatonville man died early Sunday in a one-car accident on state Route 7.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Douglas Chappell was southbound on SR 7 around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. As he neared the intersection with Ohop Valley Road, his car left the roadway and struck a tree.

The State Patrol said Chappell was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators said they believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
