Rollover crash backs up Route 16 in Tacoma

ALEXIS KRELL

A Dodge Durango pulling a 25-foot travel trailer rolled onto its side Monday, a couple of hundred yards from the westbound Tacoma Narrows Bridge, blocking lanes of state Route 16.

State Department of Transportation cameras showed traffic after the 4:30 p.m. accident backed up to at least the South Union Avenue ramp.

The driver said the trailer began to fishtail and pulled the vehicle over, said Tacoma Fire Battalion Chief Dave McRoberts.

A family of three and a dog in the vehicle were not seriously injured, McRoberts said. Several passengers were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
