A 20-year-old man crashed his vehicle into a house early Wednesday and yelled to officers that he had a gun as he ran away, Tacoma police said.
The crash happened at 5:40 a.m. at South Cushman Avenue and 23rd Street. Officers arriving at the scene spotted the driver trying to run away.
“While they were chasing him, he yelled that he had a gun,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
Officers with their guns drawn chased him down the street and searched for about 25 minutes before finding him hiding in a yard.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, Fulghum said.
