Metro Parks Tacoma is offering a program to introduce participants to letterboxing. The outdoor activity, a precursor to geocaching, combines treasure hunting with rubber stamping.

Participants will learn how to create a letterbox, make their own stamp and passport, then head outdoors to discover the secret treasures of Snake Lake.

Each adult may bring up to two children due to the supervision required during the activity. The program is for ages 5 and older and runs from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma.

Cost is $10; $9 for Nature Center members. To register, call 253-591-6439 or go to metroparkstacoma.org.
