For the second time in a week, people called Tacoma police to complain about a man standing in a parking lot and pointing a handgun at passersby.

Officers were unable to find him last week but they caught up to him just before midnight Wednesday in a parking lot in the 8400 block of South Hosmer Street.

Officers said the man told them he was promoting an upcoming event and needed the weapon for protection. Officers confiscated the gun.
