The Supreme Court often releases a list of rulings it expects to post. While it says “may” and there have been a few times when an expected case was not released, it usually means “will.”
Kamiakin and Hanford high schools were included on a national listing of schools noted for challenging their students.
More than 1,900 schools across the country made it onto the Washington Post's America's Most Challenging High Schools, with only 29 coming from Washington. Kamiakin High in Kennewick came in at 21st in the state while Richland's Hanford High was 28th.
The list includes 9 percent of the nation's roughly 22,000 public and private high schools. The schools are scored based on the number of tests given for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate Education divided by the number of students who graduated that year.
The Milken Institute has ranked Bellingham the best performing small city in Washington state in 2012.
Bellingham ranked 35th nationally, up from 104th in 2011.
Logan, Utah, topped the list in 2012, while Bellingham was ranked the highest Washington community in the small city category. The Seattle/Bellevue/Everett area ranked 13th among large cities, with San Jose, Calif., topping that list.
The Washington Nationals placed catcher Wilson Ramos on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a left hamstring strain.
