The funeral for a 24-year-old state diver who died on the job last week will be Sunday.
David Scheinost of Puyallup went missing July 24 while diving near Bainbridge Island. His body was recovered three days later.
Scheinost was hired in February as a geoduck compliance diver with the state Department of Natural Resources.
The public is invited to attend the funeral, which will be 1 p.m. at the Auburn Adventist Academy Church.
Scheinost was known by friends as “Davey Doom” and had a positive and outgoing demeanor, his family said in a statement Thursday.
A Boeing Employees Credit Union account has been set up in Scheinost’s name to help his family with expenses. Donations can be made at any BECU branch.
