Conservation fund honors Northwest Trek’s Dave Ellis

A conservation fund has been set up in the name of Dave Ellis, Northwest Trek’s deputy director who died last month.

The David E. Ellis Conservation Fund will support animal health care, animal facilities and species recovery.

Ellis led the animal park near Eatonville for nearly 28 years before dying July 17 at 65. He helped Northwest Trek receive and keep accreditation, expand its animal collection and work toward preserving multiple species.

Donations can be made to the Northwest Trek Foundation, a nonprofit organization used to support programs and projects at the wildlife park. Mail to:
