A 15-year-old boy was pulled out of Steel Lake in Federal Way on Sunday afternoon and taken to the hospital in very serious condition, South King Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Gordie Olson said.

Officials were called about 2:15 p.m., after friends swimming with the boy saw him slip under, Olson said.

A South King surface diver found the boy under the lake’s public dock, and paramedics performed CPR before he was taken to Saint Francis Hospital, Olson said.

He was underwater for about 30 minutes.
