Man pulled from American Lake dies

A Lakewood man who was hospitalized after being pulled from American Lake on Saturday morning died later that day, according to medical examiners.

A Lakewood man who was hospitalized after being pulled from American Lake on Saturday morning died later that day, according to medical examiners.

Leuma Keke, 27, slipped under the water while swimming with friends at Harry Todd Park in Lakewood.

Emergency crews pulled him out about 12:45 a.m., and he was taken to a hospital in grave condition, according to West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Keke on Sunday.
