Man, 19, pulled from Lake Tapps, later dies

A Kent man died after he slipped under the water about 30 feet from the shore while swimming Sunday evening at Lake Tapps, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

A Kent man died after he slipped under the water about 30 feet from the shore while swimming Sunday evening at Lake Tapps, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The man, 19, went under about 5:20 p.m. at the north end of the lake at Pierce County Park.

He was recovered about an hour later and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he died about 9:30 p.m. Troyer said.
