A 59-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday after hitting another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Lakewood, the Washington State Patrol said Monday.

Thomas Wear of Jackson City, Tenn., was riding north on I-5 near Gravelly Lake Drive when he passed a car, failed to make a curve and hit the car, the State Patrol said. He was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The car’s occupants, a man and woman, both 21, from Missouri, were not hurt in the crash.

The wreck was caused by reckless driving, troopers said.
