The Mason County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say assaulted and robbed an elderly Lilliwaup couple in January.

Robert E. Michal, 47, is wanted for first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and unlawful imprisonment. Mason County Superior Court has set bail at $250,000.

Michal, also known as Robert E. McDonald, Michael Roberts and Lane Alan Michal, had a last known address in Orting and has ties to Pierce County. Michal has five prior felony convictions.

The robbery took place Jan. 12. The elderly couple told investigators they woke to a barking dog. As the husband investigated, robbers forced their way into the house.

The robbers, a masked woman and two men, spent more than an hour inside the house assaulting the couple before leaving with guns, safes, drugs and the couple's van.

Two of the suspects have been arrested and the vehicle has been recovered. Michal remains at large.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately. The public should not approach Michal, he is considered armed and dangerous.
