A 47-year-old man died Saturday after being hit by a truck while walking in the 10100 block of 214th Avenue East, and the truck’s driver has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, according to Bonney Lake police.

The man was walking north on the shoulder of the road, just off state Route 410 East, about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit and rolled up onto the truck’s windshield and hood, police spokesman Todd Green said.

He was carried for a few hundred feet before he fell to the ground.

The driver then went to a store to buy a beverage before returning to the scene, where witnesses identified him, Green said.

The man was arrested, and police are investigating whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Green said.

Witnesses performed CPR, but the man who was hit later died at St. Joseph Medical Center, Green said.
