A 47-year-old man who died Saturday after being hit by a truck near state Route 410 was identified by the Pierce County medical examiner on Sunday as Gary Slick of Bonney Lake.
Slick was walking north on the shoulder of the 10100 block of 214th Avenue East about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit.
He later died at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
The driver allegedly left the scene to go to a convenience store, Bonney Lake police spokesman Todd Green said Saturday.
He later returned to the scene and was arrested.
Police were investigating whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Green said.
