Police on Tuesday were looking for the driver of the vehicle that hit a 14-year-old boy Monday in Federal Way.

The boy was riding his skateboard about 5:30 p.m. in the 300 block of South 304th Place when the vehicle careened around a corner and hit the boy, police said.

“He landed on the hood and then they stopped and it threw him quite a distance,” the boy’s mother, Teri Hyatt-Oushani, told The News Tribune. “Then they peeled out. They just hit him and left.”

She said her son curled into a ball the instant he was hit, so he did not see the vehicle or the driver.

Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said officers had no suspects in the hit-and-run.

The boy initially was taken to St. Francis Hospital before being moved to his home, where he was resting Tuesday.
