A man who was brandishing a gun in the 6200 block of Maytown Road has been shot in a confrontation with police.

What appears to be a body covered in a tarp can be seen.

Witnesses say the man lived nearby and had been becoming increasingly distraught after the recent death of his wife.

He had a rifle, according to police and witnesses, and reportedly shot at at least one car and toward Littlerock Elementary School. School is not in session.

The incident appears to have begun when some brush fell off a passing car, upsetting the man, who began a rant about littering, witnesses said.
