A Tacoma police team specializing in child abductions has created a Facebook page.
The Child Abduction Response Team’s site, which went live Tuesday, includes training information, events the team participates in and stories about local crimes against children.
It also will serve as a forum for when a child goes missing.
“It’s another way for people to communicate with us and will be a new way for us to get information from the public,” said detective Lindsey Wade, who helped put together the specially trained team.
The team comprises about 30 representatives from Tacoma police, the Law Enforcement Support Agency, Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office, King County Medical Examiner’s Office, the FBI and the Child Advocacy Center.
Team members are trained in search and recovery techniques, canvassing, investigative strategies and forensic response.
Before being certified, the department must meet 31 standards for a response team and take part in a full-scale training exercise. The Tacoma team hopes to be certified by the end of the year.
The team’s Facebook page is at on.fb.me/N18Wfw.
