Pierce Countys unemployment rate inched higher in July, rising to 9 percent last month from a revised rate of 8.9 percent in June, the state Employment Security Department announced Tuesday.
Although the countys jobless rate rose in July, it remains lower than then 9.7 percent jobless rate reported in July 2011, Employment Security data show. Seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment was 8.5 percent last month.
