The board of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber has voted to oppose Pierce County Proposition 1, which would raise sales tax three-tenths of 1 percent for Pierce Transit and is on the ballot in November.
“The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber has long supported transit in Pierce County – even supplying the headquarters for the establishment of Pierce Transit decades ago,” Chamber CEO Tom Pierson said in a news release. ”Unfortunately, the proposed sales tax levels are simply unacceptable.”
