The Buffalo Bills released nine players Sunday, including wide receiver David Clowney.

Clowney spent his first two-plus seasons with the New York Jets before spending the latter stages of 2010 with the Carolina Panthers.

The 27-year-old receiver appeared in 28 games (three starts) with the Jets and Panthers, hauling in 22 passes for 341 yards and one touchdown, but hasn't played in an NFL contest since 2010.

Buffalo also released linebacker Danny Batten, wide receiver Derek Session, defensive end Sean Ferguson, cornerback Prince Miller, tight end Fendi Onobun, defensive tackle Jay Ross, defensive back Nick Sukay and offensive guard Jake Vermiglio.

The Bills placed tight end Mike Causinn on the physically unable to perform list.

Causinn started two games for the Bills last season and caught five passes for 41 yards in six games overall.
