The New York Jets have acquired right tackle Jason Smith, a former first-round draft pick, from the St. Louis Rams.

The Jets acquired Smith, the second overall pick in 2009 out of Baylor, in place of Wayne Hunter.

Smith lost his starting job to Barry Richardson, while Hunter was benched recently in favor of Austin Howard. Hunter allowed a sack in the fourth quarter of a preseason loss to the Carolina Panthers Sunday night.
