Authorities arrested multiple people Monday afternoon as part of an investigation into about eight home invasion robberies that began in December and appeared to target Asian families in Tacoma, police said.

Detectives and SWAT teams from Tacoma and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department served search warrants on four places, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Those warrants were related to the investigation, as well as other drug-related and weapons-related crimes, he said.

All arrested suspects have local gang ties, Fulghum said.

They are all Asian, and appeared to target Asian families known to have valuables in their homes, he said.

In the most recent incident, four people were tied up June 30 inside their home in the 9000 block of South K Street while it was ransacked.

Authorities expected to make more arrests in the investigation and were still conducting interviews Monday, Fulghum added.

Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959.
