Three people were displaced early Wednesday morning after a fire destroyed their Tacoma home.

The blaze started about 12:25 a.m. at a two-story house in the 1200 block of South Adams Street. Firefighters attacked the fast-moving flames as they spread from the deck up the side of the 1,588-square-foot house and through the attic.

Investigators said the fire was caused by “discarded smoking materials.”

One person was taken to the hospital with injuries related to the fire. Damage is estimated at $80,000.
