The Puyallup City Council won’t use an outside consultant to help find the next city manager.
A majority of the seven-member council agreed Tuesday to have the city’s human resources department conduct the search, said city spokeswoman Glenda Carino.
“They’ve asked the HR director to come back with a timeline and a process for them,” she said.
The person ultimately selected will replace City Manager Ralph Dannenberg, who departed earlier this summer after a breakdown in his relationship with the council.
The council hired the Prothman Co. to help find an interim city manager and selected Bill McDonald from a pool of seven candidates. He started in Puyallup in August.
