Detectives are looking for a suspect in two recent armed robberies of Puyallup-area pharmacies.

The man, said to be in his 20s, allegedly climbed over the counter, forced employees to the floor at gunpoint and demanded prescription painkillers, according to Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers. He put the medicine in a large bag and ran out the fire exits in both robberies, Crime Stoppers reported.

The first robbery happened at 7:55 p.m. June 28 at the Walgreens in the 14300 block of Meridian Avenue East. The second was Aug. 17 at 9:50 a.m. at the Walgreens in the 11500 block of Canyon Road East.

The suspect was seen leaving the first robbery in a small silver SUV, Crime Stoppers said.

He is described as a heavy-set white man with short brown hair and a goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call 253-591-5959. Callers can remain anonymous and receive up to $1,000 for tips leading to someone being arrested and charged.
