Mount Rainier National Park rangers recovered two bodies from Paradise Glacier believed to be among four climbers who went missing during the January storms.
A crew bringing supplies to Camp Muir by helicopter Thursday spotted a body hanging over the edge of a large crevasse on the glacier southeast of Anvil Rock and gear strewn across the bottom of the crevasse, according to a news release.
The body was partially buried under about five feet of snow, about a quarter mile east of the standard climbing route across the ridge at an elevation of 8,200 feet.
Climbing rangers retrieved the body of a woman from the crevasse Friday with the assistance of a helicopter from Denali National Park. The rangers also recovered a man's body found nearby under the snow.
Both were taken to the Pierce County Medical Examiner for autopsy and identification.
On Aug. 6, the body of Mark Vucich was found near the climbing route in the Muir Snowfield about a mile above Pebble Creek at an elevation of 8,000 feet.
Rangers believe the bodies recovered Friday are likely members of the same climbing group. Rangers will return to the site Saturday on foot and by helicopter to investigate a large campsite buried under the snow on the edge of the crevasse in search of the fourth missing climber.
