The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated running back Maurice Jones-Drew and expect the Pro Bowl star to play in Sunday's opener against Minnesota.

Jones-Drew ended his lengthy holdout last Sunday. He was trying to land a new contract, but instead amassed $1.2 million in fines during his 38-day absence.

The Jaguars could have had a two-week roster exemption for Jones-Drew, but instead he is expected to share time in the backfield on Sunday with Rashad Jennings.

Jones-Drew led the league with 1,606 yards rushing last season and earned his third Pro Bowl selection. He has two years left on a five-year contract worth $31 million.

The 27-year-old UCLA product is entering his seventh season. He has rushed for 6,854 yards and 62 touchdowns in 93 career games for Jacksonville, while adding 278 catches for 2,473 yards and 10 scores.

Jacksonville opened a spot on the 53-man roster by waiving running back Keith Toston.
