The Atlanta Falcons placed cornerback Brent Grimes on injured reserve Tuesday with an Achilles injury.
Grimes, who was tagged as Atlanta's franchise player in the offseason, suffered the injury during Sunday's 40-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
He has spent his entire career with the Falcons after joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Shippensburg University in 2006.
Over 59 career games, Grimes has tallied 254 tackles and 13 interceptions.
Atlanta signed second-year cornerback Terrence Johnson to fill the roster spot.
Johnson had 37 tackles in 10 games with the Indianapolis Colts last season.
